Our drop-in clinic is a quick and easy way to get your pet microchipped. Our team can also check that existing chips are working and that your contact details are up to date.
It’s a legal requirement for all dogs and cats in England to be fitted with a microchip (dogs from 8 weeks old, cats from 20 weeks old).
Microchipping your pet gives them the best chance of being identified and returned to you if they get lost or stolen. Thousands of pets are lost every year and many are never reunited with their owners. While collars and tags can get caught or removed, microchipping identifies your pet permanently and effectively.
How microchipping works
A tiny microchip (about the same size as a grain of rice) is quickly and simply inserted under your pet’s skin. The microchip can be scanned and matched to the owner’s contact details, which are kept on a national database.
What pets can be microchipped?
Many pets can be microchipped. The staff at our Animal Centre are trained to microchip cats, dogs and rabbits.
Microchipping costs £15 per animal.
No appointment necessary – please call in to our Animal Centre between 11am and 3pm. Please bring cats and rabbits in a secure carrier.
Check your details
Microchipping is only effective if you keep your details up-to-date. If you move house or change your telephone number you must make sure you tell the database you’re registered with so that they have your up-to-date contact details. Staff at our Animal Centre can scan your pet and update any details that might be out of date – FREE, just call in between 11am-3pm.
