Storm

This is our beautiful girl, Storm, she loves nothing more than to be in our off-lead area, rolling around in the grass on a sunny day.

Storm has come a long way since arriving at the centre. When she first arrived, she was very friendly but sensitive to being touched. Over the last few months, we have witnessed a significant change in this with her trusted handlers, from whom she now enjoys a gentle fuss and even leans in for attention on the sofa. Initially, she was worried about people being near her toys, fearing they might take them away from her. During her time with us, she has made remarkable progress with her training plan, which has helped her feel more comfortable around toys and people. Tennis balls were highly valuable to her, but now, with her trusted handlers, she is relaxed enough to lie next to us and chew a ball.

Storm walks beautifully on lead and is eager to engage with her handler. She will need adopters who have experience handling large breeds. Storm will require a muzzle while out on walks in her new home to keep her safety, as she may be prone to resource guarding a ball if someone unfamiliar attempts to take it from her.

Storm will require a gradual introduction to her new adopters so that she can establish a bond that will enable her to feel comfortable with toys around her new family before going home. We are seeking adopters who are willing and have the time to visit the centre consistently at the outset.

Storm is crate trained and uses the crate as her own safe space when she is in our home room. She also settles well in her kennel, and we often find her lying on her bed during the day. When out on a walk or in our off-lead areas, Storm loves to sniff and enjoys the enrichment we provide.

When walking at the centre, Storm will disengage from other dogs and continue her walk if they are at a comfortable distance for her. Due to her resource guarding around toys, she will need to be the only pet in the home.
